I have lived at Windsor in Bradenton for four years. Recently, we got a new Resident Director. She is the best one we have had since I have lived here. She has hired exceptionally good people and taken time to make sure that they are qualified. She helps out if we are short and she has done the best job of any Resident Director we have ever had. Thank you.
So disappointed. The last group of Darryl, Raven and Michael was fabulous. This felt like a caring community and a home. Raven took care of us, Darryl listened and Michael made us smile. I loved being here. Then overnight Darryl and Michael disappear, here enters Sandy. I don’t recognize this place now. We’re told where we can go, what we can do,where we can sit, how much food we’re allowed to eat. Transport cut back and I was told by Sandy if I needed to go somewhere outside the small transport window, take public transportation. Activities are a joke! Cheap and unimaginative. The old group…

The old group told us this was our home, now it’s a dictatorship. We pay too much money to be treated like we’re children. I don’t feel at home anymore. What’s worse is no one is happy, the last council meeting was nothing but complaints and they don’t care, as long as they get their money. No one cares about us who have to live here. We deserve better.
The Windsor of Bradenton is a truly wonderful community! The residents are warm and engaging, and the care staff is compassionate, attentive, and dedicated. The community is always clean and well-maintained, creating a welcoming setting for both residents and their guests. The new director is a breath of fresh air! You can already see positive improvements, (the food for one, and the respect and equal treatment of all residents for another). I only wish more people knew how special this place is!
I am writing as a family member of a current resident, and I feel compelled to share serious concerns about the current state of this community. Since the departure of prior leadership, there has been a noticeable and concerning decline in the overall environment and resident experience. Under previous leadership, the community felt warm, connected, and responsive. Residents felt heard and valued, and there was a clear culture of communication and teamwork among staff. The atmosphere under new leadership now feels significantly less personal and more institutional. Leadership presence and accessibility appear diminished, and the sense of community that once existed has weakened. Staff morale also seems to have declined, which has not gone unnoticed by residents and families. I have personally observed, and heard directly from others, growing concern and dissatisfaction. Many residents and families are considering leaving, including my own family member. This is not an isolated sentiment. What is equally concerning is how feedback has been handled. In response to raising these concerns, the communication received from regional leadership was largely generic and dismissive in tone, focused on outlining internal transitions, new hires, and assurances that everything is moving in the right direction. While those updates may sound positive on paper, they directly contradict what is actually being experienced within the community. There was little acknowledgment of the specific concerns raised, and the response did not reflect a genuine effort to understand or address the underlying issues. Instead, it came across as a broad “we do not agree with your assessment” stance without meaningful engagement. At this point, it is difficult to feel confident that leadership is fully recognizing or prioritizing the concerns being expressed by residents and families. If meaningful improvements were underway, they would likely already be evident in the day to day experience. This community has demonstrated in the past that it is capable of providing an exceptional environment. Unfortunately, it appears to be moving in the opposite direction. As a result, we are looking into alternative communities at this time.
Last year my mother came down sick. My Brother & I rushed to FL. and dealt with advocates trying to line their pockets. So we called the Winsor. When we walked in it was clean and peaceful. Donna reassured us, Darrel called us personally helping us on Memorial Day Weekend. Raven was amazing, did her own evaluation. We left feeling our mom was in good hands, which FOR AWHILE was true. Then things kept going down hill, first the food, so much turn over. Donna was gone, leaving no leader there nights and weekends, so workers did their own thing. Money was stolen, the thief very diabolical. Another male resident was peeking in her windows, mom was scared. When I called Darrel he came to mom on a Sunday. Darrel WAS the heart of the Winsor. We decided to move my mom closer to me. Honestly finding someone who cared as much as he does my only concern! March 9th, my mother was so sick! I called Darrel to learn he was "no longer working there". Raven was out of town. I had to CALL and tell them she was sick! I had to call to make sure someone got her food. I called the DR who did go see her and did an xray etc. I sent cough medicine etc. I like Dr Regina BUT as soon as you take them out of the Winsor you're locked out of the patient portal AND all their medical records! What we found when we came down to get mom was appalling. Darrel left the 9th. The new lady Sandy came on the 24th. When my brother came Saturday he saw NO ONE. I came Monday at 6pm. I found 2 workers in a break room. My mom's room/bathroom were appalling, dirty and ants! I told Sandy, who gave rote answers. She did THEN send someone to clean her bathroom. When they did, they said, "Oh you're still here!" ??? My brother tried to share with Sandy some of our concerns while he emptied Mom's room but felt blown off. When he brought up the missing money instead of concern she literally questioned him acting like we were lying or exaggerating! Now that mom is in a new place the difference is night and day! They were even appalled at some of the practices at The Winsor! We were paying almost $600 a month for her to have help bathing. She got only 1 shower a week and they often came at 3 or 4 am. She really liked the lady who helped her but it did not seem likeshe was making sure she got clean. The residents were also told they could only have 1 glass of juice with meals. Food times are rigid, choices limited and often not available. Darrel was working on and improving the food, but who knows now. We found mom was stashing crackers! Her refrigerator had standing water in it. I am thankful for those who seem to care at the Winsor; Erika does a good job, Raven works so hard & has more than one person can do. Ventura is amazing but also has so much to keep up with. There are not enough workers! Nights and weekends are not safe. People can come in and out. Residents can't get things they need unless they have family or friends close. It truly feels like the owners care more about the bottom line than the residents! If you are looking for a place for your loved one, FL is tough. Really do research and if you're not close to check on them... do what you can to move them where some one can! ALSO print all their medical records before you move! My mom is so much happier here so are we, I can't believe how many more workers I see night and day! I pray for the residents in the Winsor and hope REAL heart changes are made!
I met with Daryl Boyer, who gave me a very nice tour of your building and answered all of my questions. Everyone was very friendly and the facility looked very clean and well kept. Mr. Boyer to be very accommodating and knowledgeable. The sample resident’s room I saw was light and airy. I would have liked to have a prettier outdoor space to enjoy, But otherwise, I very much liked Windsor.
It broke my heart to see my mom, not getting the care that she was getting at home. It was too much for us and apparently too much for them also. Sadly, she passed after four months there. The owners of this company need to have better staffing, ratios, and people to answer the phone at night
