Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay is in Bradenton, Florida, and brings Active Independent Living, Assisted Living and SHINE® Memory Care together on one campus. Independent Living is intended for residents who want to live independently and join community social activities. Assisted Living provides help with daily tasks while supporting residents’ independence; a community profile also lists assistance with appointments and medication management. SHINE Memory Care serves people with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and other memory-related conditions.
Living arrangements range from one-bedroom apartments to two-bedroom homes with dens in Independent Living. Listed Independent Living plans include one-bedroom options from 567 to 1,045 square feet, one-bedroom-plus-den plans from 844 to 971 square feet, and two-bedroom plans from 857 to 1,093 square feet. Two-bedroom-plus-den plans range from 1,138 to 1,334 square feet. Assisted Living plans include one-bedroom layouts from 518 to 700 square feet and two-bedroom layouts from 644 to 1,052 square feet. Memory Care floor plans include a 326-square-foot suite and a 441-square-foot one-bedroom plan. Bathroom layouts also vary by care type: Independent Living one-bedroom plans, with or without a den, list one bathroom, while two-bedroom plans list two. Assisted Living one-bedroom plans have one or one and a half bathrooms, and its two-bedroom plans have two. Both Memory Care layouts list one bathroom.

Housekeeping and maintenance services address cleaning, dusting, minor household fixes and lawn care or landscaping. In Assisted Living, listed services include weekly housekeeping, daily meals, scheduled transportation and an events calendar. Scheduled bus or sedan transportation, where available, covers errands, shopping and local outings. The Expressions Concierge can assist with dry cleaning, packages, dining arrangements, event participation and document services such as scanning or notarizing.
Sensations Dining features freshly prepared meals, seasonal and rotating menus, and resident input on selections. If you're looking for a community for your loved one, do as we did 4 years ago and do not think twice. The moment I walked in the door the first time, it truly felt like a wonderful place for my sister to call home. It's hard to find the words to describe how incredibly caring, compassionate, kind and loving the entire staff is in all 3 communities. I'll share just a brief example of the display of love we recently received. It became apparent that it was time for my sister to transition to memory care to keep her safe. We suddenly had to find new homes for her dog and cat. Between one day of packing and moving her the next day, I emailed Nicole, the Executive Director, about my concerns with surrendering KC and Snowy to a humane society. After reaching out to her entire staff, Nicole had successfully found new, loving homes for both pets the very next day. This is just an example of how her entire staff responds and reacts to all concerns. If I could give them a higher rating, I would without hesitation! Nicole, you are so loved and appreciated, along with your entire staff! Thank you for making the heartbreaking experience of saying goodbye to these 2 pets so much better!!! 💖... Barb Azzara

There are plenty of activities and social events, making it easy to stay engaged and meet new people. I especially appreciate the variety of amenities offered—they really make day-to-day living enjoyable and stress-free. If you have dreamed of living in a resort or on a cruise ship - look no further! Discovery Village has it all - beautiful setting, a caring staff to accommodate your lifestyle, wide range of food choices and variety of activities. And best of all a chance to meet new companions to keep you interested and engaged. I wanted to be able to participate in local activities and it is an easy drive to arts and sports facilities. DV provides organized excursions, in house lectures and workshops and lively entertainment during cocktail hour. I’m 83, have lived here 2 years and consider moving in one of the best decisions I’ve made in recent years.
This community truly strives for excellence and does a wonderful job caring for their residents. The Independent Living side is vibrant and full of activities, and the Assisted Living team provides attentive, compassionate care. What really stands out is the leadership, the Executive Director, Administrator, and the entire team are exceptional and genuinely dedicated to creating a supportive environment for everyone who lives there. It’s clear they take a lot of pride in what they do.
There is no better independent living anywhere … I do not doubt the same is true about our memory care and assisted living ..
