From our first visit (4 hours long) to today, nothing has changed...in a good way! The staff is warm, friendly & caring. The residents have been kind and welcoming. My mom loves her apartment, her balcony and the property. She is engaged in activities and excited to possibly start some new clubs. I would recommend Steeplechase.
Mom stays when we go out of town. The staff is very caring. Mom had so much fun the week she stayed that she needed 3 days to recooperate.
After looking at various places I chose "Steeplechase. It has a very warm and friendly atmosphere and I have already made several new friends. Actually all the residents are my new friends. . My apartment is cozy and very comfortable. I like it. My dog has adapted quite well too. There are several activities and I'm so busy that sometimes I wish I had a bit more time for myself. I'm confident I chose the right place and that i did the right thing. No regrets. I've polled many residents and all agree - no regrets.

What I like about Steeplechase Retirement Gracious Retirement Living is that it's a little bit smaller than some of them. They invited me to have lunch there, and they've called me a couple of times since then to come over when they have something special going on. I haven't done that, but it's nice that they call. Nobody pressured you into anything, which I like. With all the people I met, I've never had a negative thought from anybody. They all looked like they would welcome you into their community. Their apartments are small because there's only one person in there. They have different sizes. You can go from a studio to a one-bedroom to a two-bedroom, so they offer that choice to you. I'm looking at one of the rooms that's pretty nice. It's all under one roof, so you don't have to go anywhere if you don't want to because your room is there and all the facilities are in that building. They have the same amenities. They have a very nice dining room. They have craft rooms and things like that. They have a movie theater. They're not showing new movies, but you can go in there anytime you want and just sit down and put a movie in and relax. They have a pool. Out in the hallway by the windows, they'll have chairs set up, so if you want to sit and relax, there's no problem with that. Their food was very good. And they give you choices. They have a main dish for the day, but they also have salads, soups, or hot dogs if you don't want that main dish. And they serve you right at your table. They also have things sitting around, like if you want a donut, there is an area where you can go and just help yourself to snacks.
One of many Hawthorn facilities. Great location, comfortable accommodations, friendly servers, housekeepers and management, (fixed) assorted menu. You will sleep well, feel secure, and never go hungry. Golf cart accommodations and activities galore.
The roof leaks and is overdue for replacement. The one elevator frequently breaks so 2nd and 3rd floor residents are stuck in apartments or risk falling trying to navigate stairs. Elevator broke today with a hurricane coming tomorrow. Not good! My mother has lived there 3 Years and it seems the elevator is broken at least once a month. Food has gone dowhill and now my mother buys and cooks her own meals. Trannsportation is sporadic due to vehicle breakdown or lack of drivers. Rent increased higher than expected w lack of return on investment. Hawthorne needs to invest in this building! Residents are moving out by the dozen. Mom is currently looking for a better place.
