While the quality of both the occupational and physical theraoy I received was excellent- I have other signficant concerns regarding my stay at Bpynton Beach Rehabilitation. torytFirst of all, the staffing compliment of aides is unreasonably low to accomodate the acuity level of the patients- especially on the 100 wing. This is a situation that directly impacts the patient, resulting in sometimes unreasonably long waits when initiating the call light. Most of the aides do their best, but they are treated like cattle, making it difficult to recruit and retain these valuable employees. The execution of medication administration can be haphazaard- depending on the nurse. I was actually berated by a nurse when I questioned why one medication changed it's appearance from one day to the next. (I am a recntly retired nurse and Care Manager.) Food is another story. Residents are asked to fill out a weekly menu. Alternate choices are made available. When identifying my menu with my name, room number and pertinent notes (ie: milk with every meal). Choices were only occasionally delivered- instead delivering the usual mid-day offerenig of some meat- always with gravy, potato, and soft cooked vegetables. Jello and ice cream arrive liquified. Milk is missng. No orange juice results in orange juice every morning. This requires the aide to go to the kitchen to get the appropriate diet, wasting both time and food ($)! Cries of Nurse! Help! are prolonged and punctuate the night. If one does not suffer from some degree of dementia- Boynton Beach Rehab can be an eye opening experience.. One can only imagine how this may be compounded across the corporate platform.
