Seashore Senior Living

I have been in Volusia county my entire life, and so when my father needed assised living care we (my brother and I) wanted dad close by so we could keep keep an eye on him and be aware of his condition. We tried another assisted living in New Smyrna (I won't name names) but it was not a good experience at all, so depressing every time we walked in everyone was just sitting around, nobody talking or interacting, it was just sad. We moved to Seashore to get a change of pace, and we loved the energy that the Executive Director Paul had for the community and residents. The meals were great most of the time, but the staff seemed to really care more than the other senior community that we had been in and the residents were more engaged and responsive. One thing that we thought was great was that they take the residents down to the beach on their beach bus, that really sold us because dad always loved the beach, he used to run the teach a few times a week when he could, and he really enjoys being able to visiti and see the people and ocean. It's been a good experience for us so far, he seems content and has made some friends there.

My grandma has been a resident for a long time now, and she likes it here. [name removed], the activities manager is so sweet and friendly, she always has great energy and enthusiasm and always has something fun for everyone to do. So many of these places don't do anything with their residents and that's how they decline, these people need activity to stay sharp and stay with it, otherwise they just go downhill. That's one of the things we noticed when we toured. The executive director [name removed] kept talking about activities, and how they would take trips to the beach and shopping trips with people, and how important those thing were for his residents. They have a nurse as their wellness director, and that's a huge thing for us, we know how important it is to have a nurse on staff and we felt comfortable that a nurse with experience was at Seashore and working with the residents there. Seashore Senior Living has a bus, all kinds of craft rooms, and a salon. The director had only been there for a few months, but he was very knowledgeable. You could tell he has a lot of experience with dementia and I am looking at this place for memory care. They had a pool, which I liked. I just didn't like the smell of the room.

After my mother’s fall at home and hospital stay, we moved her into Seashore. Paul and Darren were extremely helpful in helping us make a quick transition from the hospital to Seashore. It is a clean, well-run facility with a charming atmosphere and a lot of fun activities. The staff is very caring and worked hard to make my mother comfortable in her new home. When my mother had further medical issues leading to hospice, the support and guidance from Paul and Darren was a blessing.
