“My husband stayed at Starlight for a respite visit and he was happy there. The homemade food and family atmosphere were a big plus. He enjoyed sitting on the screened porch. It’s a peaceful setting in the woods but easy to access from town. Highly recommend!”

My mother lived at Starlight ALF in Deland for more than two years. She was 95 when she moved in, and was totally blind, so she needed a lot of care. Runell and his staff, particularly Sheila, genuinely care about the residents and do their very best to keep everyone safe and happy. On multiple occasions, the physical therapists who would come in to see residents commented it was one of their favorite ALFs to visit because it was so good, compared to what’s out there. My mother lived at Starlight ALF in Deland for more than two years. She was 95 when she moved in, and was totally blind, so she needed a lot of care. Runell and his staff, particularly Sheila, genuinely care about the residents and do their very best to keep everyone safe and happy. On multiple occasions, the physical therapists who would come in to see residents commented it was one of their favorite ALFs to visit because it was so good, compared to what’s out there. In Mom’s final days, everyone at Starlight expressed great compassion and concern for my family going above and beyond to care for her needs. They loved my mom and it showed. So grateful her final years were in such a caring place with such lovely people. I recall first visiting Starlight, down a dirt road to a house with a pen of chickens, thinking, “where am I taking my mom!?” But the country farmhouse feel, family atmosphere, lovely clean spaces, and kind caregivers persuaded me. I made the right decision for Mom. There may be “prettier” places, but it is the people who really make the difference.
This place is absolutely Lovely and the staff is amazing. I wouldn't want my loved one anywhere else.

The staff was caring. The nursing care and treatment from the owner/nurse was unprofessional, condescending, and rude. She refused to allow hospice care in when my mother and the family needed it most. She was vague and couldn't remember what meds she gave my mother or when she gave them. She didn't call hospice or my brother when she fell the 2nd time. Please know that if you want hospice at the end she will not "let strangers in." We feared for my mother's safety. When my mother died, she had two black eyes and a bruised goose egg on her forehead.
We needed to move Mom from a horrible facility. She had ended up in the hospital and we needed to move her quickly. Someone suggested Lindenlea and it was an answer to our prayers. Vivienne is an RN and the owner. She built LindenLea for her Father and she lives on the grounds. She met us at the hospital to access Mom and was so caring in helping us through this stressful time. She is my Hero! We were able to move Mom in and it was wonderful. The home is beautiful and the staff is joyful and caring. The food was wonderful. They provided her with Cadillac care. Mom always smelled and looked great every time we visited. She could finally relax and enjoy things again, like taking a walk to visit the ducks and chickens or sitting in the lanai enjoying the gardens. We never had to worry about the care she received because we knew she was in good hands. Mom was only there for 6 months before she passed but it gave the family peace of mind to know she had gotten the absolute best care possible. She deserved the best and we found it at LindenLea.
