I’ve had the pleasure of working with the team at Discovery Village at Deerwood Assisted Living and Memory Care on multiple occasions, and I cannot say enough great things about them. Michele Dotts and Shannon Foster are truly in this field because they care deeply about seniors and the families they serve. The community itself is beautiful, vibrant, and welcoming. I’ve had lunch there several times, and the food is consistently great—a detail that really matters! Most importantly, I’ve received wonderful feedback from families who have chosen Discovery Village for their loved ones, which speaks volumes. Michele, Shannon, Sherry, and Matt are all fantastic to work with—professional, compassionate, and dedicated. I highly recommend Discovery Village at Deerwood to anyone looking for assisted living or memory care.

The memory care manager has no experience whatsoever and doesn't properly communicate with her staff or us when we visit our love ones. I've witnessed Heidi watching her staff work like slaves during dinner while watching and smiling as I was feeding my father. Residents has been very combative towards other residents. My family member has had multiple scratches on his neck and face and also things has been stolen from him multiple times. AL manager…

This place is terrible. Management is not management at all. Every time I visit the staff is always working short. Especially in memory care. The memory care manager has no experience whatsoever and doesn't properly communicate with her staff or us when we visit our love ones. I've witnessed Heidi watching her staff work like slaves during dinner while watching and smiling as I was feeding my father. Residents has been very combative towards other residents. My family member has had multiple scratches on his neck and face and also things has been stolen from him multiple times. AL manager Sherri don't even get me started, very unprofessional and rude. Please do not send out love ones here. It's a death trap. Ppl dying every other month, crazy out breaks, multiple residents falling DAILY the care just isn't there anymore. It was never there to begin with to be honest.
June 2025, My mother is in the Shine program at DV Deerwood Memory care, the staff, led by Heidi are very attentive to my mother as challenging as she can be! She's always clean! I have referred friends because I am confident that my mom is cared for even if I'm not there! After arriving at Discovery, my parents are thriving! Rebecca and Michelle and Lloyd were a tremendous help for me ! They have gone above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect!! I couldn't do this without them!!!! Thank you Discovery! June 2025, My mother is in the Shine program at DV Deerwood Memory care, the staff, led by Heidi are very attentive to my mother as challenging as she can be! She's always clean! I have referred friends because I am confident that my mom is cared for even if I'm not there! After arriving at Discovery, my parents are thriving! Rebecca and Michelle and Lloyd were a tremendous help for me ! They have gone above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect!! I couldn't do this without them!!!! Thank you Discovery! The nurses are very attentive in AL and MC! I love that they feel at home! The cooks and dining room staff are top notch!

We find the staff to be very helpful. Some things that could be improved are the outings; they do Publix and Walmart every week. The biggest complaint from my sister is the food.. it is the same thing on rotation every 3 days :( They change the sauces but it is always fish, chicken thighs, and pork. In addition, there are no snacks provided. I've been to other facilities that offer a snack time and an anytime menu; neither are offered.
I would give 1-8 all 4 with the following exceptions: friendliness a 5, Food 5, & Value 5. This is the only residence I've experienced, so I don't have a comparison. We have been pleased/satisfied with the decision to move to Discovery.
I will urge you to look at the real reviews before you send a loved one here. This place lacks the care and compassion your loved one deserves. I would never let my loved one go here. They neglect their patience and are extremely rude. Their attitude is far from what I would call acceptable and their communication is awful! Staff turnover rate is ridiculously high here and there's no surprise as to why. Again they are very rude and should honestly not be in the health care business. Never walking through those doors! Also to the one responding, no I would not disclose myself. They are known for retaliation which is sad and awful. Thanks.
