Spring Haven

My mom was in memory care and hospice. One time when the transport bus brought her to an orthopedic appointment in January, she arrived without pants on. On several occasions during the coldest snaps we had this winter, we arrived to find her hunched over in her wheelchair, dressed in nothing but a short nightgown. When someone is in memory care and hospice, they often can’t clearly communicate their needs. The very least that can be done is making sure they’re dressed appropriately—especially when it’s 40° outside. We raised our concerns the first time it happened and were assured it wouldn’t happen again and that retraining would be provided. Unfortunately, it did happen again. Every time we visited, staff would talk about being forced to work extra shifts and how short-staffed they were. I believe many of them likely started with good intentions, but they appeared overworked and stretched too thin to consistently provide the level of care residents deserve. Regardless of the reason, situations like this should never happen to someone who is completely dependent on others for their basic care and dignity. Don’t get me started with the bed bug and roach problems. She would be covered in bites. It was no fault of my mom’s as she had no kitchen or food as she always ate at the cafeteria. Her apartment was always clean between us and her when she was still able to. Staff are supposed to do weekly cleanings as well. Laundry would go missing even though we would write her name on it with Sharpie and random clothes would appear in her closet. They obviously just threw everyone’s clothes in together and didn’t care enough to make sure they got back properly. The lack of care is the resounding issue.

Horrible Management, they have roaches, and the hallways smell like animal, staff are sweet and attentive but overall this place is not somewhere I would put my family again being the way it is ran and they are very understaffed the workers look miserable before they greet you the kitchen staff are running around like crazy which 10 🌟 to them because while running around like crazy they are always up beat happy and very patient ( I dealt with the AL dinning room) special shout to Angela, Pam, alma, and Elizabeth they were very sweet patient and very attentive

I visited Spring Haven and had a chance to talk to some staff and residents. The facility was clean and fresh, much more so than expected, and the residents were glowing in their praise for the staff and administration.

Our Dad has been living in Memory Care at Spring Haven for several months. His move was very challenging as has his stay due to his dementia and some other factors. Staff from the front office, to the unit manager, to all of the nurses and techs have been absolutely wonderful. Very supportive, accommodating, and friendly. We live across the country, adding to the challenges, but have always been met with the help we need ensuring Dad's care. We have been out to visit twice in that time and are very pleased with the condition of his apartment and the unit in general. Issues that have come up have been quickly addressed. We are in the process of moving him back closer to us, and staff continues to help us work through the challenges. We are very grateful for the care he's had so far. The property itself is absolutely beautiful. The adjacent lake and wooded areas are great for getting him outside for fresh air and some nature.

Awesome facility. The staff is very friendly and attentive to its residents. I highly recommend Spring Haven!!
