Royal Gardens of St Cloud

We signed paperwork upon admission where I disclosed my mom was a potential fall risk because she was still very weak from being in the hospital, and then she got evicted 3 weeks later due to being a fall risk. My mom said she didn't fall, she was uncomfortable in the bed and decided to sit on the floor on 2 different occasions. She did this previously at home sometimes as well, so I believed her, but royal gardens didn't and evicted her anyways. Also, there was a lack of communication and sometimes confusion about her medications. Staff needs to be better educated on how to use oxygen tanks. Lastly, one of the nurses (name removed) was extremely pushy and my mom complained. When I spoke to the owner [name removed] about it, she got very defensive and rude, and insinuated my mom was lying. In general, it seemed the owner became defensive during almost every verbal conversation I had with her.

The owner is really wonderful. She seems very concerned with the welfare of her residents. When visiting, I'm always greeted pleasantly by staff. The facility seems clean and well kept. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming. My loved one's meds are given prompt and regularly. The food is a bit complaint. Very small and skimpy portions, same menu, very bland. Seems to be one area where they save costs. They have good activities, but my loved one doesn't partake. I like that the overall look and feel of Royal Gardens is more home-like and less like a facility. In my experience (brother, parents & in-laws) I'm not sure if any of these facilities are a good value. They are all expensive, while cutting corners to remain profitable. Royal Gardens DOES seem to be one of the better options. Overall, I'm glad my loved one is living there. No real complaints, other than the food.
