Gold Choice Palm Coast

As a resident, I feel good about the property. I’ve been treated well and it’s been my home for quite a while. The staff here fought to make sure I was able to stay and the other resident makes this place feels like a family.

My husband and I have worked with Gold Choice for a number of years and have always found them to be very responsive, professional, and caring. The facility is always in order when we go visit. Cecene in Nursing and Amber Ball in Administration are amazing!!!

This review is directed toward the memory care staff and not the staff in the general population area which is very kind and helpful. First off, the ladies who seem to run the memory care facility run it with an iron fist and seem to control its day to day operations independent from the Administrator and the rest of the administrative team. My loved one was transferred from the general population area to the memory care facility because she needed additional help do to her memory loss. Once she got there, things went downhill in a hurry with regard to her care. To be brief, her room is not cleaned regularly (and when it is, it is cleaned poorly). It should be noted that we have taken pictures and everything can proved. For example, soiled sheets/and the mattress protector were covered and even folded to cover-up human waste without being changed. Soiled diapers were thrown in an open trash can and left for who knows how long creating a horrible stench (to the extent that fans had to be brought into the room to air it out). Feces was found smeared on one of the walls without being cleaned and jewelry has been taken from around my loved ones neck. Clothes constantly go missing and as of this writing, her shampoo and body wash have gone missing as well (she is the only one in the room). When these issues (particularly the missing items) were brought to the attention of the one of the ladies, she covered her name badge and said that we needed to be carefull and should not be accusing people of stealing. When the stealing issue regarding the jewelry was brought to the attention of the Administrator, we suggested that we should file a police report, to which she said "go ahead and call the cops" with little concern to resolving the issue in house. She also said she would be willing to waive the notice to vacate fee if we wanted to leave without even attempting to investigate our complaint. I will say that there were a few good people that seemed to genuinely care about the well being of the residents in the memory care unit, unfortunately they have all left. My feeling, but this cannot be proven, is that they were targeted because they complained and were forced to leave as was told to me. I could go on. If I could give this place negative stars that’s just exactly what I would do. My loved one, in the memory care unit, has had valuables stolen more than once. Things just mysteriously disappear. And when I complained, I was brushed off. It’s dirty. They cover urine soaked sheets with clean sheets to avoid changing them. They don’t empty trash cans. Poop on the walls and it stinks. The staff is horrible. You know who you are. You have no business caring for people who have no memory and are basically helpless. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Don’t go to this facility if you care about the person you’re considering placing there. Had I known, I would’ve never stepped foot in their door.
