The Windsor of Palm Coast

We’d like to thank the entire staff of the Windsor for the wonderful treatment that our mother Doris received during the past year. Prior to moving from Las Palmas to the Windsor she was quite apprehensive. However, within several weeks she was more than content and realized that it was the right decision. Since then, she has remarked many times how much she liked living there and also how much she liked the food. The latter was partially due to being able to have a hamburger and ice cream whenever she wanted! Throughout the past year, we have observed the attentiveness, understanding, and kindness of the Windsor staff. This more than anything else made our mother’s past year as comfortable as possible, despite her numerous health problems. You should all be incredibly proud of the work that you do. We feel that we could not have selected a better place to care of our her, even if we had searched the entire state. We feel incredibly fortunate that the Windsor is here in Palm Coast. We have been and will continue recommending the Windsor to our friends at every opportunity.

Promises good. Deliverers not so good. So many issues. Administrators kind and sweet but complaints are not resolved. Nurses make many mistakes until you bring it to their attention. I have to be there everyday to make sure things are going right. God I dont know what happens when im not there. The poor people who dont have family to serve ad advocates. I cant believe they have awards for being the best.

Staff has a desire to see the residents enjoy their stay at the Windsor. When there are concerns, it's important to raise them to the staff. They are so good about responding. Our situation was a hard one. My mom was advancing so quickly in her dementia that it was nearly impossible for the staff to keep her safe and secure in her room, but they worked with her and did the best they could. The facility was well maintained and the staff was quick to respond to situations where there were facility issues in the room.

Upon invitation, on Wednesday, April 16th, I met my client for lunch. We proceeded to the Dining Room where I greeted various unfamiliar residents with a "Hello 🙂." We sat at a table occupied by another gentleman, who graciously welcomed us. Donna, the wait staffer, came over and asked what would we like to drink. I asked if they have ginger ale. She stated, "No. We don't serve soda." I asked what beverages are available. She proceeded to name them. My client and I asked for a lemonade. He also requested water for us both. Donna stepped away briefly. The gracious gentleman handed me the menu of which I began to peruse through. Upon Donna's return, she set the placings for my client and I (tea cup & saucer to my right, upside down (water) goblet placed in front of me). Donna then states, "You have to pay." I reply, "That's not a problem. Do you accept debit card?" Donna: "No, you have to go to the front desk." Me: "This is my first time here." (I did not know if there was a "front" desk in the dining room or was she referring to the lobby). Donna: "You have to pay." Me: "I do not like your tone." Donna removes the (water) goblet from in front of me...breaking down the area I am sitting at. Her condescending tone and removal of the goblet...while I am sitting at the table...spoke volumes to me. Racism. Upon seeing her removing the (water) goblet, I stood up and stated I will not be eating here. Donna's tone changes. It softens a little..."You can eat here. You just have to pay." I advised my client to proceed with lunch and I will wait for him. I proceeded to the lobby front desk to file a complaint. Before I could speak with the Director, my client appeared and requested me to come give him a shave. Apparently, he did not have lunch. Later, I met with Director Naomi who transcribed my grievance. I also informed her of my client not having lunch. Naomi immediately radioed in a lunch request for my client. She was very apologetic, thanked me for bringing this to her attention, and hoped that one person is not a reflection of The Windsor community as a whole, stated she will be investigating and speaking with the Chef and (Server) Donna, and placing a follow-up call with me on Friday, April 18th before 11 am. Naomi even gave me a hug upon my departure. I informed her I will be writing a Google Review. On Friday, April 18th at 9:17 am, I received a phone call from Director Naomi and a gentleman (I apologize for not remembering his name...it begins with a J.). Naomi was apologetic. I asked what is the outcome. She stated she is investigating and that Donna will not be working with the public for a while. I stated, Donna needs sensitivity training. I informed Naomi of other staff I have come in contact with are polite and friendly. Naomi invited and welcomed me to come have lunch at the Windsor anytime...it's on them. I am very appreciative of Director Naomi's follow-up and do hope Donna receives bias training. I won't be dining at The Windsor of Palm Coast.

Windsor is an amazing assisted living! Brenda with activities is always so engaging with the residents and there are always things to do! Macy, the DON is kind hearted and truly cares for the residents wellbeing. Everyone there belongs in senior care, and i would trust them with my grandparents.
