Coquina Center

A friend of mine admitted herself in Coquina a bit ago. She is facing the last couple stages of Parkinson’s and has bipolar. She had a fall last year and ended up in Coquina for her broken leg. Physical therapy and she thrived while being there. Upon her release, within a week you could see she was confused, lonely and forgetting to take some of her medications. The “light” she came home with was gone. After another fall and she decided it was time. I can say the staff ( cna’s, rn’s, dietary, physical therapist, activities and laundry) are great. I’m grateful she is happy. It is where she wants to be, that on own should speak for itself.

This is no place for anyone to stay nurses are rude and not helpful at all stayed for 3 days days so far and can't even get to go out and refused to go smoke times change every time you ask them no on checks on you doctors show up stay for a few minutes then leaves and don't show up again that day worst rehab care I have ever seen and will not let you go out for fresh air or walk stuck in bed which by the way has lumps in the middle of mattresses and worst mattress I have ever been made to try and sleep only see nurses when you get meds and usually are twice a day not one seems to care what is wrong with you and will not let you leave so you must get out first then leave funny how everyone Here is old and have to be watched by one of the non caring staff I will never stay here again if I get out alive

Hi, I recently had a friend admit there. I have to say the staff is friendly and it is very clean. My friend's goal is to return home and the therapy is excellent. She is making great progress and should be able to discharge home in about a week. I am pleasantly surprised, as I previously did not think well of Skilled Nursing Facilities and this Facility has changed my mind. If I ever need rehab, I will choose this facility! I highly recommend it!

I wish there were a way to give negative stars. This place is a dump, and the staff is uncaring except for one nurse. Having used Coquina for respite care twice without incident, we didn't think twice about using them to care for our loved one when long-term care was needed. However, we found out that this place was unfit to care for anyone. The rooms are filthy, the staff's attitudes are deplorable, and we constantly complained that our loved one wasn't being properly cleaned and changed. When we questioned the quality of care our loved one was receiving, it was always a blame game...the nurse would say it was up to the CNA or vice versa. Our loved one is bed-bound and non-verbal, and I honestly believe they took advantage of her not being able to verbalize that they were not feeding her, when our "paid aid" was not there to feed her. Even upon us moving our loved one out of this dump, they weren't cooperative. It took the administrator from the new facility, going there in person, to get them to help coordinate the transport. According to some reviews, some are really happy with this place, and for the life of me, I don't understand how. Please avoid using this facility to care for your loved one...we learned the hard way.

I come to Coquina almost everyday to visit my wife. I'm very pleased with the care is getting and she seems to be improving. I was also very happy to be involved with a meeting with the social workers and the physical therapist people. I was very impressed with David.
