Alto Tavares – Tavares, FL

I have participated in a number of events at Alto-Tavares and visited friends of family that live there. While I am always impressed by how well maintained the facilities and grounds are, what I remember most is the kind and caring individual's that make up the staff. All residents are treated equally with respect and dignity regardless of financial, physical, or mental situation/condition by everyone on staff from top management to the people that clean and everyone in between. At every turn, staff treats residents like they would want themselves and their own family to be treated. They make a point to get to know them and their families/caregivers by remembering names and past conversations. They go the extra mile to engage on a personal level to make people feel like they matter. Top marks. For Assisted Living, I can't say enough good things about Alto-Tavares.

Last year I wrote a review full of well deserved praise about the experience we had with my Mother in Assisted Living. My Mother is now in Memory Care. It was a hard decision to know when was the right time to have her placed. I leaned heavily on the staff's expertise to help guide me through the process. At this point my Mother was in their assisted living care for 2 years. I felt they almost knew her better than I did. I'll admit I was still a little anxious in what decision I was about to make. I can't begin to tell you the peace I had once I made that decision. The memory care unit is amazing!!! With her cognitive decline my Mother started to isolate herself in her assisted living room. The signs were there validating it was time for more structured and better quality of life for her at 93. Once in memory care my Mother blossomed. She's happy and participates in activities. The staff is caring and goes above and beyond to meet the residents needs. The environment in the unit is respectful, clean, attentive to the residents needs, and engaging. They make sure the residents are clean, well groomed, and come down for meals. Activities are every day and it just warms my heart to see residents participating. Many smiles can be seen on their faces. It feels like a family in the unit. My Mom's favorite is having them do her nails for her or just taking a minute to talk to her. She tells me all the time that she loves the ladies that help her. Most of all it warms my heart that my Mother is at Alto that offers the best quality of life she can get at this stage of her life's journey.

i am caring for my second family member who has been living at Alto for twenty months. I cannot say enough good about the facility. Spotless everytime i visit. The restaurant has enough variety where i can visit many times and have everything from Salads, Sandwiches, Soup, very good Daily specials. You can see and taste the care in the food. What impresses me most about Alto is the Staff. I could never do what they do. Everyone knows my uncle from where he is to the mood he is in. I would give the staff, activites director, and director ten stars for trying to imporve the residents lives. Many of us will live long enough to need an "Alto" facility. As I tell my uncle, it's life, just not the good part. After visiting for over five years- My wife and i have discussed this facility and we both agree, if we must go to a facility, this place ain't bad.

Although my parents' stay was brief, I loved the ALF here. The people were amazing, they know everyone by name, it's a wonderful atmosphere and they have ton of activities. After my mom passed away, the support from the staff was beyond measure; especially when my family and extended family from all over descended on them in order to comfort dad and be together. It was the hub until after mom's funeral and the Alto family went out of its way to help. I was amazed at the outpouring of love and assistance, when one of the staff said "We are family." That touched me, and it's true. Ultimately, I moved Dad closer to me and my family (Alto was over an hour away); he and mom were married 63 years and the path of coping with this loss will be long; forever. He needs us and we need him! I wish I could have picked Alto up and moved it! We all felt so special at Alto and they were so good and caring to my mom and dad. However, moving Dad closer we see him so much more and he comes over to our house every weekend for cook outs, dinners, etc. The Alto family will always have a special place in our family's hearts. His new location is nice, and the people are nice too, and he's only been there a couple of weeks; but we do miss the people at Alto. I wanted to relay what a great experience we had with Alto Tavares, it is very well deserved.

The building itself is clean, welcoming, and well maintained. Residents generally receive good care, and staff members who work directly with residents seem attentive and compassionate. That said, communication at the front desk could be improved. Interactions over the phone can sometimes feel rushed or unfriendly, which may not leave the best first impression for families calling with questions. There also seems to be a noticeable difference between how management interacts publicly versus behind the scenes, which can affect staff morale. Overall, it’s a nice facility with residents who appear well cared for, but improving staff communication and consistency in leadership would make it even better.
