Vizcaya by the Sea Inc

A family member lives here and the staff are wonderful people. We truly appreciate how dedicated and kind they are and couldn’t imagine a better assisted living situation. Much gratitude to the wonderful people who work at Vizcaya.

My sister is at Vizcaya By the Sea. It is adequate. It's on the East Coast, and it's an old motel that has been refurbished for assisted living, and it's not very nice. The staff were good. I think they're understaffed, which are a lot of places are right now. I didn't feel like she got the personal care that I would have liked to have seen her have. There were things that I feel could have been done as far as physical therapy. They don't have the facilities there for that, but her insurance would cover bringing someone in. She wasn't getting physical therapy and I think she needs it. Overall, it's well-run, but I wouldn't want to live there. I tried the food once. I know she's not happy with the food at all. She has a little refrigerator and a microwave, and she ends up fixing her own quite a bit. She's a little picky, but she's also diabetic, and they didn't serve her the foods that she should be receiving. There aren't any activities there. They have a room where they can play cards or whatnot, but they have nothing organized. I ate there once and it was OK, but my sister complains about it a lot.

Housing up to 40 residents.. Located on Ocean drive right in Pompano, I was pleased.... It felt like I was on Holliday... With daily fitness classes and bingo being played out like a well orchestrated play.. I was impressed because.. Everyone seemed to be someone special. When choosing a place to settle your debts and retire in dignity.. This is a place that exudes your constitutional rights and universal rights to determination of your own thoughts; your own counsel, and your own decisions. I never got a chance to see the food, but it was one of the few places I have been to where dinner was served at 5 instead if 4:30 and where; they served coffee at 4:00 pm. My fellow SAFFA seemed very happy living here...

My mother now lives at Vizcaya..... It looks like abeach resort. Just a walk across the street to beautiful beach access. Open sunny courtyard with tons of palms. Really pretty. I was amazed by the caring staff, if you visit for awhile you can see this. Lana has been wonderful to us, tried to take my mother to live with us, she'd only been there 2 weeks. I found she needed way more care and activities, doc visits than I could handle. She was excited to go back and warmly welcomed by everyone. Lana hugged my mom when she left and told her she could come back if she wanted to. She also made the transition back very easy for us! Nice quiet small facility with very caring staff!

I really wasn’t happy with Vizcaya by the Sea, and the owner wasn’t very personable. I was looking for something that was more of a single room, and the room that I was shown was a double room. When I asked, the price for a single room was double the amount, and I think they shouldn’t cost that much. The facility looked nice. It had a nice outside area and lunchroom, but I didn’t really get a very good feel on what activities they had and what they really did. They weren’t engaged in anything when I was there. It was a Sunday, so you would think that there would be other things going on, but there weren’t.
