Viera Del Mar Health and Rehabilitation Center

My great uncle is staying at this facility, and I will say that it is beautiful, but the unit he stays on Montecelo (where the back doors are) is extremely muggy and hot, this is unfair to the staff and patients. When I visited I hear the aids and nurses complain about it being hot. The food from what I have been shown is good with what they can have. Other things I have noticed is the lack of laundry being returned at this facility. Clothes were given to laundry weeks ago and they failed to return laundry, only one shirt. I hope things turn up, besides that no complaints!

Worst rehab ever! Don’t get me wrong, it’s a gorgeous facility but the staff and service is horrible. My grandfather came here for rehabilitation for a broken hip. They don’t come fast enough when patients ring the alarm. My grandfather would ring the alarm multiple times and they would come an hour later. They let him crap all over himself after he rung the bell many times. The worker tried to put his dirty clothes in the closet and she had to be told to just throw them away. They got him to the bathroom and left him in there for over a hour and a half. Turns out the alarm in the bathroom didn’t even work. Thank god he had his cell phone so he called the front office to let him out. This mortified him to the point that he’d have to get himself out of the bed to go to the bathroom on his own. One of the workers shoved papers towards him and wouldn’t tell him what number to call when he asked. They even let him fall on his recovering hip during physical therapy and refused to get him an x-ray until my mother demanded them to do so. They don’t even assess the living spaces before trying to release patients. They’re also short on many supplies. He asked for straws, they said they didn’t have any. It was really hard for him to even get pillowcases and toilet paper. He asked for a bedside potty and they said they didn’t have one, they were locked away, and they didn’t know. My grandfather cried and begged us to get him out of here most days he was here. Please make sure to always check on your loved ones because you never know what’s going on in these types of facilities. If I could put zero stars or even negative stars I would. Don’t let the looks deceive you, because the reality and service of this place definitely doesn’t match its beautiful design.

I had both my brother-in-law and sister-in-law at Viera Del Mar for 6 weeks after have my Influenza and Pneumonia. The therapy services were great. They did therapy Monday - Friday. Would have been nice to have something on the weekends even if a group therapy session. The nursing staff at times seemed short staffed, especially the weekends. The RN’s and LPN’s did a great job considering their patient load. Two different times and talking to them they had 36 people they were responsible for. Seems excessive. Kudo’s to Esther and Damion! They both were outstanding with my sister who could sometimes be a little much! Now the negatives…..meals were mediocre. CNA’s who passed out the trays and pick them up were sweet. And helpful. Otherwise we did not see a CNA at all during day shift. Housekeeping kept rooms cleaned. My sister went 3 weeks without her bed linens changed. And they were changed by Damion when I asked to have a CNA come in and change them because my sister had showered that day. If I had to list anything that need to be improved, it would be the cleanliness of the patients and the cleanliness of their beds. I know it’s up to the patient to shower but more encouragement from staff would be helpful.

This facility is top notch. The staff is personable and caring. A Real human experience, very helpful navigating new territory. Social worker that cares and makes you feel like the only one. And I’m sure she has a full plate! Amazing attitude! Activities director always has something for an all inclusive group. She creative and pleasant. Very welcoming, from cinema movies to trivia, coffee cake making with Yahtzee while the cake is baking - organized afternoon treat. Keeps something going all the time & you’re welcome to join in. Didn’t know what I was walking into when visiting the first time and now really thankful my brother is there. The care and communication is clear yet respectful of patient privacy . It is a clean facility and full of positive attitudes real helpers for staff. One might think there on a cruise it’s so well organized. The physical therapy team keeps him going and pressing forward very personalized service. I can see the progress. Thank you !

Yes. I visited my friend Jean today. It was the one day that she was not too tired. The receptionist was nice as she helped me find her room number. We met in her room and then sat outside. I did her makeup for her and then she remembered Bingo at 3:00. It was after. We got to the Bingo game a little late but were able to play after existing game finished. The activoty leader was nice and accepting. We returned to her room as Bingo was over and she was getting tired. I got lost twice and people were veru helpful to show the exit. Jean commented how pleased she was with staff, PT AND OT. The place was very clean and beautiful. I told her jokingly she could pretend she was in hotel. A pleasure visting and seeing her in good spirits.
