Tarpon Bayou Center

This place is really good. We have had our uncle here for 3 years and he has been in 4 separate facilities over the last 8 years. The care is excellent with great staff and management. Food is good and snacks available. Right on the water and great setting. Ignore the bad review its not real and is not a representation of what this place is.

The rooms are small - There is only 1 TV in the room and the cable barely works. The management is horrible, nurses not giving medications per orders and giving double narcotics, but they are not reprimanded for the narcotics being given so close together with NO order. The administrator and DON do not communicate well with us family members or the staff. Showers barely given to residents including my mother. I have complained so many times and yet nothing gets done.

A friend of mine had to come here because he had problems getting out of bed and to the bathroom. Therapy was given as long as he would accept it. I visit him as much as I can and each time I visit I have to say I am impressed with the facility and the staff. It seems his needs are being met and he is always clean. The building is dated but clean. The location is off the beaten path but I consider this facility a good choice. What impresses me most is my friend does not complain about his care. That speaks volumes. Highly recommended

I was sent there to have an antibiotic I. V. inserted, for treatment of an infection incurred, after treatment for a staph infection. I was sent there on a Friday afternoon, which made me uneasy, because I was afraid they wouldn't have the prescriptions, for the medications I was already taking. This turned out to be the case. They didn't have the Baclofen I needed, for Restless-leg Syndrome. I subsequently lost a nights sleep, because it was now a weekend, and they couldn't get in contact with a doctor to get a prescription. They had put a portable toilet by my bed, in case I was unable to reach the restroom(they only had 1 restroom, for 2 rooms(4 patients). The toilet was stained with dried fecal material, undoubtedly, from a previous unfortunate user. The patients had to pay if they wanted a soda, or juice. Coffee was only available at breakfast. There is much more, but I don't have the time. This was back in 2015/'16, so I see nothing has changed there, for the better, much. If they had tried pet care there instead, they would have been out of business, by now!

Do not put anyone you love in this place. They lie through their teeth to get you to be a client. There was no air conditioning or a fan running or anything. I have a heat sensitive disease and I was passing out. They were verbally abusive to me and slightly physically abusive. It is filthy, Horrible, I was only there for one night. They ignore everyone. Thank god I had the hospital blankets and pillows that My friend got for me because they don't even supply a blanket and pillow. I left everything there so I can get donated to people that don't have anything. It was the worst night of my life, I barely made it till the morning. Do not put anyone here that you love. I had to sign myself out because of the freaking abuse. There was blood in my urine and they said that's totally normal. They also said they were knowledgeable with caring for a catheter, Again lies. Wound up in the emergency room and couldn't get my chemo as planned. Because they did not attach anything correctly. They did not even offer a sip of water. The floors are filthy, especially when the Cathedar bag leaked and all they did was put a towel and wipe it up. They did not mop it or sanitize after there was a trail of urine. I will be reporting this to the better business bureau. Again they lie through their teeth.
