Recently, I had to find an Assisted Living Facility (ALF) with Memory Care for my sister due to significant dementia. After a rushed search in the St. Petersburg area, we chose a place that quickly proved inadequate. They started memory care less than a year ago and are clearly suffering from poor planning, poor management, and poor-quality staff. They approached us to move her, admitting that they could not provide the needed care. Keep in mind that there is nothing exceptional or extraordinary for someone in my sister’s condition and it was clearly a lack of ability by the facility. The point here is that you need to be very careful in rooting out the good from the bad and price is not always a differentiator. Carefully assess the engagement of the staff, the activities, and the managers. If you do not see a lot of activity and engagement, if it feels sad and depressing you should walk away. Faced with the daunting task of quickly finding a good place to move her, I started my search on the Internet and found Sunways Senior Living Concierge. From previous experiences, I was skeptical as most are really just clearing houses for referrals but decided to try it. Sherryl’s energy, years of experience in numerous roles in the industry and her true dedication to helping people is her superpower. People like Sherryl are rare, hard to find and we were lucky to find her and Sunways. She listened to our needs, provided feedback and guidance and was honest in sharing her thoughts and knowledge. She visited my sister and assessed her and the current ALF. She provided us with a short list of candidates, discussing the pros and cons of each. She helped us to further prioritize our selection criteria and solicited additional information and input from her colleagues at Sunways. Sherryl arranged and accompanied us on our tours, provided valuable insights and wisdom, helping us find a promising home for my sister. To say we are fans of Sherryl and Sunways would be an understatement. I highly recommend Sherryl and Sunways for anyone seeking elder care services.

My concierge, Sherryl Cabildo, has been a godsend. She helped me choose the long-term care facility where I placed my husband, touring each place with me. She followed up regularly to see how he was doing and how I was doing. She let me know when she was going to be away and gave me the name of a coworker who would be covering for her. She was there for me during the Christmas holidays when my husband had a health crisis and I needed to arrange transport for him. I am so fortunate to have found such a caring, compassionate concierge to guide me through such emotionally difficult times.

Our family worked with Merial to find an assisted living and memory care facility for our parents. We needed a place that would give our parents a great quality of life while providing quality memory care for our mom and community and activities for both of them. I cannot overstate the impact that Merial had. She immersed herself into the process, forming a connection with us and our parents. She was in daily contact with us for weeks as she helped us identify facilities that met our criteria, tour facilities, ask the right questions, and gain a level of confidence that they were what they said they were. The place we ended up selecting far exceeded what we hoped we would find. We are so grateful to Sunways for providing this service and to Merial for the way she poured her heart and soul into finding a great place for our parents.
