Starling at Nocatee Assisted Living & Memory Care

The five years our mom spent at Starling at Nocatee Assisted Living were amazing. And it's not just the beautiful building, but the exceptional staff that made it such a wonderful experience. We will be forever grateful she had the good fortune to spend her final days in such a loving environment.

They Truly don’t care for the patients just the money you give them, they have left patients in flooded rooms and roach infested rooms without notifying anyone.

My mom is in Starlight, the memory care wing here in Nocatee. The facility is beautiful. And, most importantly, the caregivers are compassionate and caring! They treat my mom with kindness and respect. It is such a relief to know, every day, that mom is safe and well taken care of. Lucy Dixon and her staff are angels.

Mom fell at 7 am twice hit her head in Memory care. Nurse contacted me 6.5 hours later said she fell once (Unsupervised) and that she was at the hospital (Alone) for observation. The doctors told me fell twice, and hit her head. She broke a bone in hip so they lied. When asked why I wasn't notified I was told by nurse, "I am too busy." Doctor said that mom need weight bearing exercises. Facility refused to get her up and told everyone she was bed ridden even though she could walk. I had to hire a care giver and PT to ensure she would get bathed and her hair washed and exercises. Also, there was active COVID and CDIFF Memory Care & did not quarantine the patients. There were allowed to sit at the table with mom. 2 of the workers were allowed to work with COVID because they "wore mask" and "weren't that bad." Days later, mom was sick. My caregiver notified 3 staff members, and med techs. Nothing happened. I left messages for Director and didn't not get called back until much later. Contacted the nurse in AL and she didn't take mom's temp or check her out. She just glanced at her. She said she could wait for tomorrow because it was a non-emergency. I asked for an ambulance to take her to the hospital. Mom was diagnosed with Acute COVID, Acute UTI and Cdiff (her temperature at the hospital was 103). The hospital contacted Starling 5 days later to let them know mom was being discharged. Starling refused to accept her back, even though her room was paid until the end of the month and her belongings were in the room. When I asked the DON she said "because you didn't tell us she had COVID." I told the DON I didn't know she had COVID. The DON said, "good luck" and slammed the phone down. Complaining does work because MC director works many facilities doesn't answer her phone and her messages are always full and The DON is rude and spiteful. Also, aids will take your wipes, diapers and washcloths to other patients rooms. I have seen several deaths of patients that shouldn't have happened because of their lack of care. Numerous patients on the Assisted Living left recently. The Ombudsman is there all the time because of complaints from patients and families. BTW there is no nurse assigned to MC only Assisted Living. She will come over only to give certain meds. They are usually short handed (lots of turnover) and I have sat in the common room numerous times with nobody in site. They have a abusive patient that attacks other patients. She will also defecate on the floor of other patients rooms. They do NOTHING about it. If care for your loved one is important, DO NOT take them to Starling at Nocatee. They will tell you anything to get you in there and then you will find out they lie. Look at the honest reviews on YELP. Ask to see the reports on them from the OMBUDSMAN.

I've had the pleasure of doing some work for Starling, and they are absolutely amazing. The grounds are beautiful and the staff really love caring for the residents.
