Shoreside Health and Rehabilitation Center

I wanted to give this facility a chance, but here’s the truth. The first couple of days they were attentive and responsive. After that, my mom told me they simply stopped coming to check on her when she needed assistance. Both her and the other patient in her room did not have call buttons that actually worked. They didn’t allow my mom to walk unattended because of being a fall risk but no one came to help her to the bathroom regularly so she was constantly sitting in her own pee. She wasn’t given showers because she was a fall risk, so they wiped her down but never cleaned her feet despite her letting them know the skin in between her toes were starting to show fungus growth. I only realized that when I picked her up to give her a shower. Some of the employees are nice and helpful, sure. Though the overall facility is not worth it, but I guess most of them are like this.. They set up an appointment for my mom upon discharge with an outside doctor and never sent over a referral. So when she arrived the facility called shoreside to request the referral. They were told since she was discharged they had to contact the family. How on earth would I be able to produce a referral. Why not get in contact with her doctor before making appointments for her to attend after discharge. Or simply send over whatever referral you originally had from your in house doctors. OR CANCEL THE APPOINTMENT once she was discharged. So my disabled mom wouldn’t have gone to this appointment for no reason. There are so many little things to complain about, but I’ve already used up my mental space with this. I was considering long term care here to be able to have her getting daily physical therapy, but I am so happy something kept telling me to not.

I found my aunt in lying in her bowel movement. She said she called since 12 noon and no one came to check on her or clean her up. I entered the facility at 4:25 PM. You all ought to be ashamed of yourselves. When I walked past the nursing station one of them was on her cellphone so cavalier. Upon discovering my aunt, I notified them immediately. No one came. My twin sister arrived 10 minutes after I did and she had to go to the nursing station. What breaks my heart is my aunt telling me this isn’t the first time, sometimes she has to wait until 7 PM to be cleaned. This is unacceptable. How dare you guys?!!!!!!
