Skilled Nursing in Sarasota, with spaces to feel at home and support for your next chapter.
Ask about this communitySarasota Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Cente is a 120-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Sarasota, Florida. It provides care for people recovering from surgery, injury or illness, with options for short-term rehabilitation stays and long-term care. The center’s team cares for approximately 100 residents around the clock throughout the year. The facility is part of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System’s post-acute and rehabilitation services, with skilled nursing and therapy as central parts of its care.
Physical, occupational and speech therapy are listed as available seven days a week. Care plans are tailored to residents’ health needs and rehabilitation goals. The care team is described as including nursing staff, rehabilitation therapists, registered dietitians and a board-certified geriatrician. Family conferences give relatives an opportunity to participate in care planning. Together, these details describe a care approach that brings nursing, therapy, nutrition and family involvement into planning for residents.
Private rooms, private bathrooms, wheelchair accessibility and an emergency call system are among the listed room features. On-site supports include staff available around the clock, an on-site registered nurse, medication management and housekeeping. These practical details describe both the private room arrangement and services provided within the facility. The information also identifies nursing and rehabilitation as available care, rather than describing independent or assisted living apartments.
Meals are served in a dining room, with listed dietary accommodations including gluten-free, low- or no-sodium, no-sugar and vegan meals. Social activities include happy hours, wine tastings, dances and karaoke. Gathering and activity areas provide shared indoor spaces in addition to the dining room. The range of listed food accommodations and activities offers concrete examples of dining and social life at the center, without implying that any particular meal or event follows a set schedule.
Outdoor features include covered patios, a fountain area and a lakeside gazebo. These join the indoor gathering and activity areas as shared spaces beyond residents’ rooms. The combination of indoor and outdoor settings gives residents several kinds of communal areas within the facility. The listed details describe the spaces available but do not assign particular activities to any one location.
A social services team helps residents and families with admission and discharge arrangements. This support addresses transitions into and out of the center, while family conferences provide a separate way for relatives to participate in care planning. These practical services complement the facility’s short-term rehabilitation and long-term care options. Alongside the therapy disciplines, room features, meal accommodations and shared spaces, they outline key aspects of care and daily life.

My husband was at Sarasota Memorial Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for rehab. He was there for 18 days. That was the first time he had ever been in a facility, so it reminded me more of a nursing home. The rooms were quite small in the rehab and there were two patients in a room. The upkeep seemed okay; I didn't see anything wrong with it. Regarding the staff, one night, my husband asked to be taken to the bathroom. At that time, he could still walk, but he was not able to get out of bed without assistance. And there were a couple of male nurses in the hallway, and they just told him to go…
My husband was at Sarasota Memorial Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for rehab. And there were a couple of male nurses in the hallway, and they just told him to go back to bed. We addressed that with the lady at the facility and she assured me that that would not happen again.
My dad stayed at the Sarasota Memorial Nursing and Rehab for six weeks. Its clean and most of the staff were very good and very helpful. He had physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy five days a week.
I could not have asked for a better place for my Mom. EVERY MEMBER of the staff is caring and compassionate and understanding when a family member is overwhelmed.
Everything about Sarasota Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is excellent. They are very honest about everything. They do not act like they are trying to hide anything or act like they are afraid I will find out something that I should not. They are also very kind and helpful. They care about me and my husband. It is an older facility, but the grounds are beautiful. They have sidewalks where you can take your loved one out in a wheelchair. It is like a home. It is very warm. The rooms are not really big, but they are OK.
After having done all the research, Sarasota Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was the only one that I would put my parents in. It was our top number one choice, and we were so thrilled. It is a smaller facility. It feels more like a home in the way that it is set up. It is not so sterile and hospital like. The staff works together, and they are constantly communicating, so they are really a team. You can see how closely knit they are. It is a very person-centered care. It is in a beautiful setting, back away from all the noisy roads. It's a mature landscaped lot, and it's got gardens set up for the residents. They have several dining rooms, activity rooms, and they have some private rooms if you want them, but most of the rooms are set up for two people.
Sarasota Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is a five-star facility. My dad was there for three years and it was wonderful. The food was great. The physician and the psychiatrist that my dad had were excellent. There nursing care was outstanding. They have daily activities. They also have rehab.
