Rustic Retreat

My Mom absolutely loved the many years she spent at this peaceful and lovely Assisted Living Facility. Mom expecially loved her caregiver "Peaches" and always considered her a wonderful, caring and compassionate friend. The entire staff is wonderful as is the owner, June T. My wife and I have always been pleased on our frequent visits. Mom consistently expressed happiness in being there and in all the great care that she received. The resident rooms are pleasantly furnished and all needs are met. Sadly, Mom passed peacefully earlier this month of June 2022 She was a vibrant and always healthy 88 years young. It is my hope that Rustic Retreat will continue their fine work and receive many more postings of great reviews. They deserve no less.

I had a loved one there recently and Rustic Retreat has got to be the worst nursing home in all of south Florida. They have no call buttons by the residents bed and none in the bathroom should a resident need to call for help. Instead, the owner expects everyone to own a cell phone so they can call the main number at the front desk for help and good luck with that because half of the time nobody answers the phone and you have to leave a message, wait, and hope someone gets to you. The owner looks for the cheapest way out of everything and the food is terrible they serve such small child portions of food and half of the time the food isn't even that good and if you don't like what is being served they offer you peanut butter and jelly sandwich on white bread, they don't even have the more healthy wheat bread. As far as employees go there are no registered nurses working there and nobody checks in the residents rooms to make sure they are ok. The rooms are so small yet residents are expected to pay quite a bit of money in addition to what Medicare pays. They are so cheap at this place too for example 2 days per week you get egg for breakfast, 1 egg and 1 piece of toast and they put a little butter on the toast for you because they are afraid the residents will use too much butter. Soup most of the time it's so terrible and you don't even know what kind of soup it is, forget about traditional chicken noodle soup you almost never see that. Sunday dinners are usually cottage cheese as the main course with a few pieces of fruit from a can! They use too much sodium in the foods as well having no consideration for those with high blood pressure. If you want a snack you have to walk down to the dinning area to get it even if you can't walk that well because they won't bring nor allow eating in the resident room. I say keep your loved ones as far away from this place as you can! They don't even have any activities for the seniors. Most of the food there isn't very healthy or good at all.

The food is terrible and they give such small portions that are meant for a child. For example on Sunday night for dinner they serve cottage cheese with a few pieces of fruit from a can that is what that place calls dinner! They don't even have any registered nurses working there and a doctor only comes there once every two weeks and rushes out. The owner June is not a very nice person and she runs this place the cheapest way possible and the rooms are so small. You also have to pay money for rent in addition to what Medicare pays.
