The facilities are top-notch, clean, and well-maintained. There is a reason the locals nickname this facility "The Taj Mahal" of care homes. It is that exceptional. My 96 year old mother has been here for almost two years, and I can't say enough good things about the entire facility. I was surprised to see the one other review with a low rating. I do agree with that other review that the staff are kind, caring, compassionate people. The facilities are top-notch, clean, and well-maintained. There is a reason the locals nickname this facility "The Taj Mahal" of care homes. It is that exceptional. My 96 year old mother has been here for almost two years, and I can't say enough good things about the entire facility. I think the complaints of the other reviewer (that review is 8 years old as I write this) were long ago addressed. The menu may not always be gourmet, but it is well-balanced, healthy, and there is always a choice. Two options are provided at each meal. Two of the three servers have been working there 18 and 23 years respectively. They are like family and treat my mom with the greatest respect and love. The activities director is the most stellar person you've ever met. The nursing director is professional and caring. Everyone in this care home is so kind from the housekeepers to the CNAs to the dining room staff to the administration. I never worry and my mother because I know she's in the best hands. Five stars for The Retreat at Osprey Village.
Extraordinary response to the Hurricane challenges, including evacuation of the whole facility to a destination 7 hours away. The precision of the whole operation was exceptional but what was most touching was the gentle love and care afforded to each resident during the whole arduous trip and in dealing with the re-adjustment difficulties upon returning. There are not words enough to praise all the staff and leadership of Osprey Village and in particular The Retreat! Thank you!
Staff very friendly and accommodating. Always meeting new and very interesting new residents, all become family. Activities are very varied and always fun. Town is charming and laid back. Very good medical facilities. Attractive 2-3 bedroom stand alone homes (93) and 40 apartments. 2 blocks from the beach.

In Osprey Village I have found a warm, caring home. Staff is not only concerned about the physicals well being of residents but also with our social well being. Offering activities which inform, stimulate and give pleasure. How wonderful it is to have someone else worry about housekeeping and maintenance. And at the end of the day we go to the dining room to enjoy a well prepared meal with friends
The best thing is all the employees know your name, are friendly & nice. Another best is all the activities offered. Always ways to keep busy if that is what you want. Also, the library is outstanding. Boks & CDC by the shelfful. Constant trips to stores once a week on our island. Food just keeps getting better and better. Almost forget - we get warm popcorn with the movies we watch.
We have lived in Osprey for about 15 years & we love it. Our cottage is the best - so comfortable and the staff would "walk on water" for us - meet all of our needs! Above all our neighbors are great - caring & giving! There is always something fun to do as well as much to learn from book club to art!
While living at Amelia Island Plantation we watched the growth of this community from the ground up and we've known many residents. We now understand the happy reflections of residents on their lives here, gratitude for caring staff, comfort and security during the years of covid, neighbors with common interests and a willingness to share and a justified faith on the wisdom of our choice to come.
Initially we were drawn to Osprey Village because we already loved Amelia Island. [name removed] is a wonderful, caring leader of our community. He truly cares about all of us and always has our best interest in mind. [name removed] works nonstop to keep us all happy and entertained. She was very creative at the height of the pandemic. [name removed] has encouraged me to exercise and now I love it, most especially the water aerobics. I can't praise [name removed] enough and will miss her terribly.
