Palm Krest Manor Assisted

My mother was recently admitted to Palmcrest Manor Assisted Living Facility after we were assured it would be an appropriate placement for her. She has chronic lung disease, uses both a walker and a cane, and is at high risk for falls. Within approximately one hour of her arrival, she sent me photos and videos of the room she had been assigned. After reviewing them and speaking with her, I immediately made the decision to have her removed from the facility that same day and returned to the hospital. I am posting these current photos so that other families can see the actual condition of the room my mother was assigned, rather than relying solely on promotional or older online photos. The room appeared to have numerous issues, including: * Extension cords stretched across the floor and multiple electrical cords within the walking path. * A large extension cord reel and electrical equipment stored inside the room. * A wall-mounted heater with what appeared to be a significant buildup of dust and debris. * A bathroom and shower that appeared dirty, heavily stained, and not properly cleaned before occupancy. * Worn and dated furniture. * A room that did not appear to have been cleaned or prepared before a new resident moved in. In addition, my mother reported that there was a thick layer of dust throughout the room when she arrived. Given her chronic lung disease, this was especially concerning. Before responding that you are “sorry for my experience” or asking why these concerns were not reported to management while my mother was there, I believe the more important question is why the room was not inspected and prepared before she was admitted. A scheduled admission should mean the room has already been cleaned, inspected, and made ready for a new resident. Based on the condition shown in these photographs, that does not appear to have happened. Preparing a room before a resident moves in is a basic expectation of any assisted living facility. It should not be the responsibility of a newly admitted resident or their family to identify conditions that should have been addressed before occupancy. The photographs speak for themselves. Families paying nearly $5,000 per month should reasonably expect a room that is clean, safe, and ready for their loved one on the day they arrive. I am sharing this review to help other families make an informed decision. If you are considering this facility, I strongly encourage you to visit in person and ask to see the exact room your loved one will be assigned before accepting placement. Inspect the room carefully, including the bathroom, shower, furniture, and overall cleanliness, rather than relying solely on online photos.
