Highland Lakes on Lake Tarpon

The clubhouse provides indoor spaces for both quiet pursuits and group activities. Residents can use a lending library, meeting room, card room, billiards room, kitchen, and multipurpose auditorium, where dances and shows take place. The lobby offers a place to gather, while seating decks and a covered pavilion provide options for spending time outdoors. Cards, games, and billiards are among the activities available in the community.

The Lodge on Lake Tarpon serves as the departure and return point for boat outings. Its multipurpose room has hardwood floors, a stone fireplace, and a service kitchen, while an enclosed porch has large windows facing the lake. Outside are a geothermal-heated pool and deck, a certified butterfly garden, a patio, picnic tables, grills, and a horseshoe-pitching area. Two 24-foot pontoon boats make sightseeing trips, with some scheduled outings including lunch at a local lakeside restaurant. Residents may also arrange private tours for special events; resident captains pilot the boats.

Other shared spaces support sports and hands-on activities. Courts for tennis, pickleball, bocce, and shuffleboard have lighting for evening play. The Arts & Crafts Building, also called the Annex, sits between the clubhouse and tennis courts. Activities there include ceramics, painting, stained glass, woodworking in an equipped shop, and open-studio sessions; instructors are available. A community Activities Committee and resident clubs or groups organize parties, dinner-dances, shows, card and game gatherings, Saturday breakfasts, and indoor and outdoor events. The monthly Highlander newspaper publishes a calendar and articles about activities. A fenced RV and boat lot includes parking for recreational vehicles and watercraft, as well as a boat-launch ramp into Lake Tarpon.
