Grand Villa of Lakeland

My father went to Sunburst Community Care in Lakeland on November 26th around noon. The following morning after he had fallen several times there, the last time while he was supervised by a petite pregnant nurse, they sent him to the hospital to be checked. He ended up being dehydrated and had a TIA. On my birthday , December 10th he passed away in hospice. Which I do want to say was no fault of Sunburst. I had contacted Tyrus at Sunburst Community Care and told him what had happened and he explained to me that once I get my father's stuff out of the room they would refund the security deposit and a prorated amount of other charges. We had him completely moved out by December 15th. After several attempts contacting Tyrus he had told me that the security deposit is not refundable and upper management is sticking to that. He did say that he would fight for it because he didn't think that was reasonable. After several types of trying to reach him and him ghosting me, he finally answered the phone and said that they are sticking to this policy in keeping a $3500 deposit after my father was there only approximately 18 hours. Maybe after posting this review I'll actually get a response as to why they feel it's fair to keep a $3,500 deposit when my father wasn't even there long enough to cause any wear and tear on the room he was in? And replying saying that you sent it to upper management does nothing because you have already done that and they refused to do anything!

Sunburst have one of the best memory care units I have ever seen. The staff back there are amazing and they know and treat every patient like family. I have visited numerous facilities with memory care units but none like this one. These patients are not forgotten but they are showered with love and care. I would always recommend them. Keep up the good work.

I have a close friends that have move in recently. I am very impressed with the staff. Care has been tailored to the needs. I would recommend this facility as they will meet all needs.

I’ve reviewed Grand Villa (sunburst) multiple times but once again, I just want to say how nice this facility is. It’s clean, well maintained, light and bright. But, most importantly, the staff is outstanding! The level of loving care is remarkable. The staff are patient, gentle and loving. They truly care about and for the residents. We are so grateful to have found Grand Villa!
