Golfcrest Nursing & Rehabilitation Center

When I first learned my mom would be staying at this facility, I quickly read the reviews and I have to say my heart sank, there was nothing that gave me any hope that my mom would be properly taken care of, but after my first visit I can't sing their praises enough. While the facility itself could use some much needed upgrades the staff really cares and do their best to take care of the residents. Their dedication and attention was the only thing that made me feel better every time I had to leave my mom after a visit. A very special thanks to Ms Hortense Leckie the Director of nursing and also to my mom's favorite CNA Nicole, for taking care of my heart in human form. My siblings and I will never forget nor can we ever repay your kindness. What you do truly matters and is appreciated tremendously!

It was horrendous. I picked that location so my brother would have his friends come to visit because they were very close. I didn’t know if he was going stay there yet. I never had a chance to make a decision because he passed in 2 weeks. My brother was not treated with dignity and respect at this facility. I am so mad at myself for choosing it, even if it was only going to be for a short while and he had to spend his last days there after I left for New York. Because I would not want to see anyone else go through what my brother went through. And just so you know, they leave the aids alone at night, no supervision no supervisor on premises no one above them to speak with. I experienced this when my brother passed and a girl called me to tell me and let me know I had to get my brother’s body out of there in the same breath he can’t stay here. Do you have arrangements? I said no I don’t. I’ll find out in the morning. Well we can’t leave him here. We’re gonna have to call them to take him away. I said call who what are you doing? We called these people and they come and take him away and then you can make your arrangements. I said wait a minute who are these people? Who are you calling? I want to speak to them. I don’t think they’ll talk to you. They just come here to get the body. This is my brother you’re talking about I said please get a phone number. I had an idea of what my brother wanted if he had passed, but we didn’t do anything about it at that point? I didn’t know what to do. I was beside myself. I just heard my brother passed away in the same breath, telling me that they have to get them out of there.She was so upset and so nervous and I couldn’t even get out of her what exactly happened. I asked to speak to someone there was no one there for me to speak with no supervisor. I did not like the idea that those young people were in the room with my brother since one of them upset him terribly the week before I wanted to say something he told me not to. He was afraid they would treat him worse. I don’t believe in that, but I Was leaving And I didn’t want to do anything that would upset him. But other things had happened as well I think the worst of it… The next day? No one from the facility called me to pay their condolences to explain to me. What happened with my brother. Nothing absolutely nothing from them. And they had to go rushing around, trying to get a death certificate sign that they had to go back to the hospital to do it. Their own doctors wouldn’t even sign it. I would advise you strongly. “Please Do Not” Place your loved one's in this facility and leave them there…. Please.

Don't judge a book by the reviews. I was apprehensive when bringing my Brither. How wrong I was. This place is the most loving environment I have been in across the board. The staff are all highly qualified!! The treatment and care you receive are priceless. Starting from the women at the front desk to the women who keep the rooms and facilities spotless. The reviews I read were awful. These nurses are not only the best you could get, but they also understand every patient's needs. As soon as I took my tour, I was amazed by the warmth and approachability of the faces. The rehab OT and PT were lovely, as were the nurses' station and the lunchroom. I genuinely liked every single nurse my brother had. Tony was especially good with my brother, not just a great nurse, but he also understands the difficulties patients may be going through. I have no idea what people are talking about. The second you walk through that door, the greeting you receive is so important. And then the further you get into the facility, the more comforting you will feel leaving your loved one here. I usually write only bad reviews, unless what I'm reviewing is exceptional That is precisely what this place is!! Worse place ever for any human My husband stayed at Golfcrest Nursing Home one night , and the care was terrible. Nobody checked his blood sugar, even though he is a diabetic and heart failure patient , and it’s very important for his health. They also failed to give him his medications on time. This caused us a lot of stress and put his health at serious risk.i brought him home next day The staff were slow to respond, and many times his needs were ignored. Communication was very poor, and no one seemed to care about his condition or comfort. The place did not feel clean or well-managed. I am very disappointed with Golfcrest Nursing Home and would not recommend it to anyone who cares about proper medical care and respect for their loved ones.. ⸻ Would you like to add anything else, like names, dates, or specific incidents?

Unfortunately this facility did not do its job when it came to advanced directives and a DNR. He was sent to the hospital without the DNR and the hospital placed him on the ventilator. My family member had to be weened off the ventilator over the course of many hours and then finally was able to pass away peacefully. I would not recommend using this facility for a loved one especially if they have advanced directives in place.
