My family’s experience with Senior Consulting Advisors was extremely disappointing. Senior Consulting Advisors became involved in my mother’s assisted living placement during one of the most vulnerable times in her life. My mother had just been discharged from the hospital after experiencing a mental health crisis. She also has chronic lung disease, relies on both a walker and a cane, and is at high risk for falls. Based on my conversation with the housing coordinator, Brandi Lamb, my understanding was that my mother agreed to the placement after reviewing photographs and/or videos of Palm Krest Manor Assisted Living online. Within just a few hours of arriving at the facility, my mother called me crying hysterically. She repeatedly said she did not want to stay there. She immediately began taking photographs and videos of the room she had been assigned and sent them to me. What I saw was deeply concerning. The room appeared dirty and unprepared for occupancy. The photographs showed what appeared to be excessive dust, a dirty bathroom, a heavily stained shower, worn furniture, visible deterioration, extension cords and electrical cords within the walking path, and a room that did not appear to have been cleaned or prepared before a new resident moved in. My mother also told me there was a thick layer of dust throughout the room. Because she has chronic lung disease and depends on both a walker and a cane, these conditions were especially concerning. During my conversation with Brandi Lamb, I asked her a very simple question: “Would you place your own mother in this facility?” Her response was: “I absolutely would.” After that conversation, I sent Brandi an email attaching photographs of the actual room my mother had been assigned. I asked her to reconsider her response after reviewing those photographs and asked whether, knowing those photographs reflected the actual room assigned to my mother, she still believed it met an appropriate standard for an elderly resident with documented mobility limitations and chronic lung disease. Rather than answering that question, I received a response from the company’s CEO. His response focused primarily on my mother’s financial circumstances, referenced allegations involving my family’s finances, and advised that Senior Consulting Advisors would no longer be involved in my mother’s placement. It did not answer the question I had asked after providing photographs of the actual room my mother was assigned. Afterward, I reviewed Senior Consulting Advisors’ website and found that the company states that its senior advisors have “personally visited and vetted every community we endorse.” That statement raised additional questions for me based on my family’s experience. I will be submitting a consumer complaint, along with the photographs, videos, correspondence, and other supporting documentation, to the appropriate agencies for their independent review. This review reflects my family’s personal experience. If you are considering using a senior placement service, ask questions about how facilities are evaluated, whether they have been personally visited, and what steps are taken before recommending a placement for your loved one.

I can't say enough wonderful things about my social worker Mellisa. She made what felt like an overwhelming process so much easier with her kindness, compassion, and dedication. She was always there to answer my questions, guide me through every step, and truly cared about finding the best place for my husband. She even helped us on moving day!!! Because of her hard work, he's now safely settled into assisted living, and I couldn't be more grateful. She is an incredible social worker and an amazing person!
