Canterfield of Clay County

Canterfield of Clay County was very nice. The staff that we talked with was great. However, I was a little bit disappointed in the room that they showed us, and it might have been because that would be all that my mother could afford at this time without getting additional help. To me, it was set up more like a motel room. It was unfurnished. They didn't have any beds in there or anything. It was just one room with a little kitchenette, a little sink, a microwave, and a mini refrigerator. The bathroom was very well equipped for assisted living if somebody needed help like they have an emergency pull button there, and so I thought the bathroom was very nicely done. The experience was great. They have gone into detail on what they provide. The facilities are great. They have a library on each floor and you're welcome to go to the library any time. They have a movie day, they have a hairdresser that comes in and does their hair, and they have nice amenities and things like that. The people were friendly. She showed us menus. If they didn't want to come down to eat in their dining room, they could order something, and it would be delivered to them up there. They have places where you can do puzzles or read a book. It seems like they enjoy it.

I toured Canterfield of Clay County and I was very impressed with their extended housing in the back of the community and to start the possible process of moving into the assisted living building as well as the progression of care needed. The staff was very nice, very informative, and gave me information to use and consider with my search and future inquiry. The facility was very clean. They had a craft room and a couple of sewing machines for the residents to be able to use in crafting and what have you.

I toured Canterfield of Clay County. It was very nice, very clean, and had a grandiose feeling, which is what they want you to feel when you go in, with the baby grand piano and the staircase in the dining room. It was very comfortable and had plenty of activities to keep me busy. However, I was kind of disappointed that they did not have a stove. I thought it was a kitchenette with a couple of burners, which I expected, and I was very upset that the refrigerator freezer was not big enough because I wanted to cook my meals. The rooms are okay. The one that I like, you have to take the door off. So if you get in the shower, it pushes back, and none of them are fixed with handicapped railings in the bathrooms. We have to supply our own. Everybody was very nice, but it's just a matter of money.

I had a very good tour at Canterfield of Clay County. The tour guide was very helpful and very nice. The rooms were very adequate. The place seemed to be in very good condition. It seemed like everyone was well-adjusted. They were having social interactions. I was not able to try the food, but I did ask how this tour guide liked it and she said she did.

My mother will be moving into Canterfield of Clay County. It is very up-to-date and clean. They are very attentive to the patients and their recipients. The food looked fantastic. The overall atmosphere is very calm and collected. I would not worry about my mother being there. They were making Mardi Gras umbrellas. They had nail salons. Where they serve the food is more like a restaurant than just a place to sit down and eat. Some of them have pets, and there is an area for them. We liked it. The churches are around them, and the services come to them. They have a gym, a library, and movie nights. They go out to restaurants and go shopping. They have activities for them. The facility is brand new, so it's nice.
