Ava Cares IV

My husband spent about a year and a half at Ava's. He absolutely loved it there. Anytime I visited it was unannounced and very clean with the smell of food lingering in the air. The staff was friendly and the entire facility gave the impression of a "home" versus a facility. There was always an open line of communication and my husband had NO mental or dementia issues and was very capable of telling me if he was unhappy. He had his recliner and flat-screen and was very happy until he passed. Thank u AVA and your team for all u have done.

Do not put your family in any of Ava's assistant living facilities. I think opening up 5-6 ALFs is being greedy for money when the care is aweful, philipino workers don't speak a word of English or have legal papers, they are overworked, do not provide attention, care, food is not great, there is no love or care being offered. Turn over of residents is crazy, so I got my mother out of there before they killed her! Ava needs to be investigated by the state and put out of business.

If I could go less than one star, I would. As others have said, this place is all about the money, not the care. The staff barely speaks English, there's no interaction with the residents (they get put in front of the TV for the entire day). If your loved one is ambulatory and can feed him/herself, maybe. But if they are not, it is not worth the $3,500 per month that's being charge. If you do put someone there, please, please get a nanny cam and hide it somewhere. Other than being clean, there's nothing good I could say about their care of my mother, who really declined while there and not because of her condition. My husband is living at AVA Cares, which is a smaller facility with a maximum of six residents, and he seems to be doing better there than he did in a larger community. They're very caring and he gets almost one-on-one care. He's in a companion suite and it’s large enough that both of them have a lot of room. It's kind of in a rural setting where you can look out at the trees. The staff is very attentive to his needs, check on him constantly, and the nurse feeds him.

My wife's uncle was here for almost 2-years until he passed away. I cannot tell you how comforting it felt to see how they provided a home for him with compassion, laughter, and a whole lot of caring and compassion. All necessary medical needs were provided for in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner as well. My family and I were there often, many times unannounced, and it was always top notch. I highly recommend Ava Cares!
