very poor management

My sister was recently a patient after having a total ankle replacement. She is 66 years old, alert and oriented. She was not treated with dignity or respect during her stay. She was there for 5 days before she ever received a shower…and that was given to her by therapy because nursing staff did not give her one. She frequently waited over an hour for her call bell to be answered. Her routine meds were often over 2 hours late. Her room and bathroom were filthy and if housekeeping came in they cleaned the middle of the floors. She was brought in to other residents bathrooms if the one in her room was unavailable. Communication was practically nonexistent. She was not involved in any kind of care planning or goal setting. Frustrated with the lack of care and concern she asked to be discharged and was told she could not be discharged on a Friday that she would have to wait until Monday. Monday they said the physician wasn’t available and she would have to wait until Tuesday. We managed to have her primary care physician ok the discharge so we could take her home. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

Do NOT send anyone here as they will not be cared for. They took terrible care of my xspouse and I had to pull him out of there. No shower except one in the 3 weeks he was there. They hid the nurse call button at night so the help wouldn’t be disturbed. They had to continually ask for ice and water which took forever to get. The rehab said he was perfectly fine with a walker and wheelchair when he was not. They let him sign his own release paperwork when he has a letter of incapacitation on file. Place was not somewhere you want a loved one or anyone to be at. The only positive was the place was clean that’s it. They have an ala carte menu which was never offered along with no help to participate in any activity’s which were posted where invalid patients would never see. Very sad and disappointing experience.

We found Atlantic Shores Rehab to be awesome! My mother was well cared for, she was bathed daily, and her room and surroundings were kept clean. Most importantly all staff were top notch, very friendly, and professional. My family and I felt they took exceptional care of our mother. We are a loud family and my dad doesn't hear well, plus my sister's are the type to ask so many questions that my head was spinning. Everyone there was very patient with us and so supportive. We really can't thank them enough. A huge thank you to all and a hug from the Smith family. (Yes, that's our real name!) 😄

PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVE ONE TO THIS DUMP! They almost let my brother die. They MADE his wife go home and not stay overnight with him. When she arrived this morning he was UNRESPONSIVE, barely breathing. Took him to Hospital where they intubated him. And on top of that he had had diarrhea since his surgery a week earlier and when he got to hospital today they said he had been lying in his own waste for at least 13 hours! This is NOT a nursing or rehab facility. It is a DUMP. A lawsuit will be coming their way.
