**BUYER BEWARE**I'm disappointed with our Aravilla experience. Carol tbe director was unprofessional, manipulative, and lacks intergrity. They false advertise with a bait and switch. On their memory care page, it offers a $1000 off a month for 6 months. When I asked for it, I was told those units were no longer available. RED FLAG! The deceptive offer is still there. A letter is being sent to the attorney general. My first tour was with Carol the facility director. It was lovely, clean, and staff were nice. I offered a deposit until the details were finalized, but Carol said it wasn't necessary. We discussed things that were easential to us and she agreed to them. They were bi-weekly transportation to and from a weekly blood infusion appointment. Again it sounded good and she agreed. My mother-in-law is high level functioning, I was insistent that she be on the level with the higher functioning patients. Her mental health, healthy interactions were essential for her wellbeing and the activities were plentiful and condusive to a better quality of life. Carol again agreed. A nurse would be sent to evaluate Jean, and her cabilites would be ducumented. Carol seemed confident it wouldn't be a problem. I offered a deposit and it was declined. I left there excited. Her son wanted to check it out too. Then the big hurricane hit. Understandably we weren't able to get there that same week. We had damage and the roof blew off my husband's workplace. He was responsible for getting the business operational. They understood. We went first thing the following Monday. They never mentioned there was someone else looking at the unit. During tour we saw Jean's new room. 3 weeks prior the bathroom had a plumbing problem. It emitted a constant earpiercing screech which was painful and uncomfortable. It was so bad we had to leave the room. When we returned 3 weeks later, the sound was there, still ear piercing and constant. Again we left to talk. I feel bad for the resident that lived with that noise. There is no telling how long it wenton. It was obvious she didnt have regular family visits to advocate for her. Her comfort was ignored. She was left to live with that horrific sound. With the Director of Activities, again we reviewed Jean's transportation needs to appointments, her level of care, and having a nurse do the review of her capabilites at her current facility. We made it clear these were important. We were told emphatically that free transport was not available and to use Apollo and pay it. We tried to share Carol's agreements. She emphatically denied it. Next, she said a nurse wouldnt go see my mother-in-law. The evaluation would be over phone nurse to nurse. I wasn't comfortable with that, and we were told by Carol it would be done with a visit. Our representative from the agency, explained what we had been promised. The activities director was still emphatic. They still didnt ask for a deposit and we offered yet again. We left, and understood someone would speak with Carol asap. No response recieved on Yuesday. Finally, Wednesday morning they said the unit was rented. They offered Jean a room on the advanced dementia floor. They understood Jean was too high functioning, and it would leave her isolated. Our main concern was Jean's emotional and social wellbeing. They didn’t care. I called the Director Carol that afternoon. She didnt have the professional courtesy to call back. I feel they waited for a better deal before responding. They used false advertising with a bait and switch scam, Carol personally manipulated us, and they ignoring the poor woman's noise issue. They did not address it in a timely manner. Be wary of advertisements that are too good to be true. Even car dealerships by law cant do a bait and switch. A shinny apple on the outside doesn't mean it's not rotten inside. Looks can certainly be deceiving. 11/5 The facts arent demeaning if true. No deposit offers were accepted. We have the text saying no select rooms available. My siblings and I feel that Aravilla has made our 92-yr old mother better and stronger in many ways. The staff is caring and diverse, often going the extra mile for her. Her laundry and housekeeping are done weekly, and delicious meals are provided three times a day, relieving her of domestic and cooking activities that are hard for her. In addition, she has something that she really needs as she ages, without ever having to get in a car - agency. It’s her decision whether or not she wants to go down and participate in the chair yoga class or get her hair done or listen to music with others. If a special concert is going to take place, all she has to do is walk with her walker down the hall into the elevator and voila! she’s there! No need to rely on others to get her somewhere. And it’s completely up to our mother how many walks she takes each day both inside and outside! So many cheerful long hallways she walks if it’s too hot outside, and beautifully landscaped paths for her to walk all year long, where she goes to visit her favorite birds in the Aravilla pond! Her ability to walk safely every day whenever she wishes has been hugely important to her well-being. When it comes to dr visits, Aravilla makes sure this happens. Coordination between nursing staff, transportation staff and my mother has made her dr visits seamless and actually pleasurable. During hurricanes, this building is not only built to class 5 Hurricane strength codes, the staff moves in for as long as is needed to continue care of the residents. It’s a most impressive thing to witness and makes everyone safe -staff and residents alike. This is a testament to the women running this establishment. The building is not only safe, it’s beautifully designed with many windows out to nature. The apartments are practically designed with safety in mind, but they’re lovely as well - not institutional at all. The common spaces are intimate but allow one to see the whole community at the same time. You can be having a conversation at lunch but nearby see someone feeding the fish in the fish tank, others watching a movie, and beyond that someone waiting to see a nurse. The activities staff are very engaged with everyone and they clearly put their hearts into things they do! Finally - the community. Recently my mother said she feels like she’s now in a community of friends, something in all her 72 years of marriage, she never experienced. That too is making her happier than I’ve seen her in a different way. It’s wonderful. We are so grateful to Aravilla for everything!

My mother has been a resident here for a year. All the staff whom I have interacted with have been caring and helpful. In particular, Lauren W. has gone above and beyond to make my mother feel at home and to assist her in many ways. I think they have a good team.
