Anthem Lakes in Atlantic Beach, Florida, is a rental retirement community offering assisted living and memory care. Respite stays are also available. Its memory care program is intended for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, in a specialized, secure setting. Atlantic Beach is east of Jacksonville in Duval County and is the northernmost of Jacksonville’s beach communities.
Memory care plans are personalized, and the program considers residents’ emotional, spiritual, mental, social and physical needs. Staff are available around the clock, with a call system and emergency response. Care services include medication management and administration, fall management and wound care. Physical and speech therapy are available on site, and transportation is provided for scheduled doctor visits. The community also describes ongoing dementia and staff training as part of its memory care offering.

Memory care residents can choose private studio apartments, with standard studios listed at 270 square feet and premium studios at 311 square feet. A two-bedroom, one-bath apartment is listed at 412 square feet. Apartments include weekly housekeeping, linen and laundry service, utilities, cable and wireless internet. Secure indoor and outdoor spaces are among the memory care amenities, along with a fitness and physical therapy room, library, and on-site spa and salon.
Dining is restaurant-style, with meals prepared by a chef and described as seasonal, using fresh local ingredients. Memory care dining includes adaptations intended to encourage eating and drinking: shake supplements and finely chopped or puréed foods are available for residents who have difficulty chewing or swallowing. A private dining room can be used for special occasions. Housekeeping and maintenance are also listed among the community’s services.
A full-time activity director leads memory care programming that includes art and music therapies, brain-focused games, exercise and stretching groups, live entertainment, movies, crafts, games, celebrations and outings. Community activity examples include watercolor classes, cooking demonstrations, bridge, a walking club, cornhole and social hours. Other listed shared amenities include crafts and game rooms, a beauty salon or barber service, and scheduled transportation. A HEARTS welcome program is designed to help new residents settle in through introductions to staff and neighbors.
The surrounding area offers outdoor and cultural destinations. Hanna Park has hiking and biking trails, a lake and picnic areas; Tideviews Preserve and Dutton Island Preserve feature boardwalks, wildlife viewing and fishing piers. Beaches Town Center is a local destination for shopping and dining. Atlantic Beach also hosts events such as the North Beaches Art Walk, Atlantic Beach Arts Market and Dancin’ in the Streets festival.

This facility has such a caring staff. I love the management and the way this ALF is run. Anthem Lakes is always clean and the residents always seem to be doing fun activities. Highly recommend.

As someone who works in healthcare, I appreciate the professionalism, communication, and genuine compassion the team demonstrates every day. Very poor care. I told staff today that my friend in memory "care" (she fell two days ago) needed pain meds, and they just disappeared. So many stories, but this is the most recent. Poor staffing, so much turnover. It's gotten worse since a new Corp. bought them. Don't bring your loved ones here.
They wouldn't put any side rails up and my daughter fell out of the bed and hit the wall had a brain bleed and she died from that at 38 years old with five children. My daughter would ring her Bell and sometimes people wouldn't come for a long time and when she fell out of bed they still didn't come for a while even though her neighbor kept pressing the button for someone to come but it took them a while and at that point she was still breathing but nobody did anything about it. The director never would take any of my questions and her door was always shut and my daughter was there for several years but the director would never talk to me and I don't think anyone else either and that's a crying shame so I feel like I killed my daughter. People stole from my daughter her cute little clothes and jewelry and anything else that could get their hands on. The place was very nice but other than that I can't say too many good things about it
My mother has only been at Anthem for about a month, and while she usually takes some time to adjust to anything new, she seems to be settling in quite nicely. Thank you Heather for the dotting i's and crossing t's portion and knowing how to calm a weary soul! The campus is beautiful and the staff, particularly Sheila, have been caring and responsive. Everyone is friendly and the staff takes the time to interact with the residents. So far I am very happy with the decision to move to Anthem.
What a blessing Anthem Lakes and staff have been for my mom and our family. The facility is beautiful and clean. The staff have been very caring. And Sheila and Scott and LaTonya are rock stars. They are so accommodating to me with all my calls and text messages since I live 6 hours away. The only reason I give this four and not five stars is the food. My mom does not eat breakfast, ever. Never has. It would be nice if we could get a credit on her rent for a two meal plan. I know several ladies there that would benefit from a little savings for a two-meal only plan. Anyway, you would not go wrong choosing this facility. Tell them Anne and Cheryl sent you.
Anthem Lakes is a clean and welcoming senior living community with caring ang attentive staff. The food is great and the residents are well taken care of.
